BEST STEAMED CABBAGE WITH RED POTATOES, AND SMOKED SAUSAGE

I remember when I was a child my Mom always cooked this for me when I am sick, or when it’s really cold. I really hate cold weather, too because it makes me sick. She always says this recipe is easy to cook but very nutritious.

Servings:6 | Prep time:10 Min | Cooking time:30 Min

INGREDIENTS:

2 Tbsp butter

1 big onion, chopped

1/2 cup water

1 large head cabbage, cut into wedges

5 red potatoes, cut into cubes

1 lb smoked sausage, sliced

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

DIRECTIONS:

In a Dutch oven, melt butter and add onions. Saute until tender.

Peel some or all of the potatoes, then cut into quarters or half. Pour ½ of water and add slices of sausages and potato cube.

Slice cabbage into thick or thin pieces and leave out the white hard part of the cabbage. Put it in the pot.

Cut onions and put it in the put. Add salt and pepper to taste. Then steam for 30 minutes or until the vegetable tenderize.

Cook on medium heat, then mix and reduce to medium / low heat. Cook until potatoes and carrots are tender or for about 30 minutes. Keep the lid on, only remove the cover when you stir it. Stir occasionally, add water if needed to keep it from burning.
